The Mansion
The centerpiece of the Tarrywile property is a magnificent twenty-three room shingle-style Victorian mansion built for prominent Danbury physician Dr. William Conrad Wile (1847-1913) in 1897.
The Castle
Originally known as the “Sanford Castle”, the castle was constructed in 1897 to serve as a summer home for noted photographer E. Starr Sanford.
The Grounds
Located in Danbury, Connecticut Tarrywile Park is one of Fairfield County’s hidden gems consisting of 722 acres of pristine open space as well as a classic Victorian mansion available to host public and private events ranging from business meetings to weddings.
A hidden gem in the city of Danbury. This is a lovely, and pretty sprawling property located in the heart of Danbury. When you are there, you are surrounded by gorgeous landscape and vistas, as well as an extraordinary mansion.

About Us
The mission of the Friends of Tarrywile Park, Inc. is to work in concert with the Tarrywile Park Authority to support preservation, enhancement and utilization of the Park’s grounds and facilities. Friends of Tarrywile Park, Inc. conducts activities to create community awareness of the park and its programs as well as to raise funds to provide the financial support necessary to preserve and improve the park’s grounds and buildings. A prime objective of the organization is to create support and raise the extra funding necessary to implement the recommendations of the Tarrywile Park Master Plan.
